New Patients
Becoming a new patient is easy. Request an appointment online or call us at (289) 597-7191. We welcome patients of all ages and accept most major dental insurance plans. At your first visit we'll complete a full oral health assessment and take any necessary X-rays so we can understand your dental history and goals.
Please bring a valid photo ID, your dental insurance card (if applicable), and a list of any current medications or known allergies. If you have recent dental X-rays from a previous dentist, we're happy to accept them to minimize repeat imaging. Arriving 10–15 minutes early to complete new patient forms is appreciated.
We do our best to accommodate urgent situations on a same-day basis, but we recommend calling ahead so we can prepare for your visit. For dental emergencies — such as a knocked-out tooth, severe toothache, or swelling — please call us immediately at (289) 597-7191.
MiNa Family Dentistry is located at 7191 Yonge St, Unit 205 in Thornhill. Free parking is available in the building's lot. The building is elevator-accessible, making it suitable for patients with mobility needs. We're conveniently situated along Yonge Street near public transit.
Visits & Prevention
The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) recommends visiting your dentist at least once or twice a year for routine exams and professional cleanings. Patients with gum disease, a history of cavities, or certain health conditions may benefit from more frequent visits. Your dentist will advise the right schedule for you. A routine visit includes a comprehensive oral exam, professional cleaning (scaling and polishing), and X-rays as needed to detect issues not visible to the naked eye. Your dentist checks for cavities, gum health, signs of oral cancer, and bite irregularities. We'll also review your home care routine and answer any questions you have. Absolutely — we're a true family practice welcoming patients from toddlers to seniors. The Canadian Dental Association recommends a child's first dental visit within six months of their first tooth appearing, or by their first birthday. Early visits help children get comfortable with the dental environment and allow us to spot any developmental concerns early.
Insurance & Payment
Yes — we work with most major Canadian dental insurance providers and offer direct billing to many plans, so you only pay your co-payment at the time of your visit. Our administrative team is happy to help you understand your coverage and submit claims. Contact your insurer in advance to confirm your specific benefits.
Yes, MiNa Family Dentistry accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) for eligible patients. The CDCP is a federal program providing dental coverage to uninsured Canadians who meet income and residency requirements. Visit the Government of Canada's website to check eligibility and apply.
Yes, we offer direct billing to most insurance carriers so you pay only your co-payment at the time of your visit (where your plan allows). Please bring your insurance card and policy number to your appointment and we'll take care of the rest.
We accept cash, major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), and debit. For larger treatment plans, we provide a detailed cost estimate in advance so there are no surprises. Please speak with our front desk team about available payment arrangements, or contact us with any questions before your visit.
Treatments
Yes — Dr. Kadivar offers Invisalign® clear aligner treatment for adults and teens. Aligners are removable, virtually invisible, and a comfortable alternative to traditional metal braces. Book a consultation — we'll assess your smile, answer all your questions, and walk you through the entire process at no obligation.
Yes — we offer professional Zoom® in-office teeth whitening, which can brighten your smile up to 8 shades in a single appointment. Take-home whitening trays are also available. Professional whitening is safer and delivers longer-lasting results than over-the-counter products.
Yes — our in-house periodontist and implant specialist, Dr. Mehdi Adibrad (MSc), places dental implants at our Thornhill clinic with no referral needed. Implants are the gold-standard permanent solution for missing teeth and can last a lifetime with proper care.
Common signs include a persistent or severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, tooth darkening, or a pimple on the gum near a tooth. Some cases have no obvious symptoms and are only detected on X-ray during a routine exam. If you're concerned, book an appointment and we'll assess the tooth with up-to-date imaging. Yes — we provide a full range of dental restorations, including composite fillings, porcelain crowns, bridges, dentures, Empress restorations, and more. We'll recommend the most conservative option that restores both function and appearance.
We understand dental anxiety is very common, and our entire team is trained to create a calm, judgment-free environment. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation for patients who need help relaxing during treatment. Please let us know about your concerns when booking — the more we know, the better we can prepare.
Children's Dentistry
Absolutely — MiNa Family Dentistry is a true family practice. We welcome patients from toddlers to seniors and are happy to schedule the whole family on the same visit. Our team is experienced in making young patients feel at ease from the very first appointment.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends scheduling your child's first dental visit within six months of their first tooth appearing, or by their first birthday — whichever comes first. Early visits help children become comfortable with the dental environment and allow us to identify any developmental concerns before they become larger problems.
The first visit is gentle and relaxed — mostly a "getting to know you" appointment. We'll examine your child's teeth and gums, talk through their oral development, answer your questions about brushing and diet, and make sure your little one feels safe and comfortable in our chair. No pressure, no rush.
Emergencies
Dental emergencies include: a severe or persistent toothache, a knocked-out (avulsed) tooth, a cracked or broken tooth with pain, a lost filling or crown causing discomfort, an abscess or facial swelling, and uncontrolled oral bleeding. If you're unsure whether your situation qualifies, call us — we'll advise you right away. Learn more about our emergency dental care →
Yes — we do our best to accommodate same-day emergency appointments. Please call (289) 597-7191 as early as possible to secure a time. If you have facial swelling, difficulty swallowing, or trouble breathing, go directly to the nearest emergency room.
Act quickly — time is critical. Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently with water without scrubbing, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If not, keep it moist in milk or saliva. Call us immediately at (289) 597-7191. A knocked-out tooth can often be re-implanted successfully if treated within 30–60 minutes.
